I am moving to Saskatchewan, what documents do I need to obtain a driver’s license?
If you are a licensed driver from another Canadian province, any of the following combination of documents will meet all the requirements:
- An out-of-province driver’s license, a Canadian birth certificate or Canadian passport, and two documents that prove you are a Saskatchewan resident i.e, utility bill, bank statement.
If you are from outside of Canada, the following combination of documents from the list will meet all the requirements:
- A valid passport from your country of residence, one of the Citizenship and Immigration Canada documents, and two documents that prove you are a Saskatchewan resident i.e, utility bill, bank statement

I need to cancel my partner/parent licence plate – can I do this?
Yes, we can cancel the plate providing you have signed authority from the registered owner of the vehicle.
How do I get ‘wildlife waiver’ for my vehicle?

Is my camper trailer covered when it is in storage and the plate is cancelled?
Your camper trailer will be covered if it is included in an Auto Pak policy. The same applies to any other vehicles on this policy when they are not in use.
It would be great if I could check my licence plate and other SGI details out of office hours – is that possible?
Yes – most definitely. By registering with MySGI online services you can renew or cancel plates, make a drivers licence payment, schedule a road test, make payments, request a drivers abstract, replace your driver’s licence or ID card, update information. Simply, contact us to add your email address to your customer profile. You will then receive an activation code to complete the registration for MySGI!
I am towing my travel trailer to the lake – do I need to increase my weight or adjust my driver licence?
If the truck, trailer and load is over 5000kg (11,000lbs) then weight needs to be added to the truck registration.
Also, if what you are towing – trailer and load together is over 4600kg (10,000lbs), you need to have either a ‘G’ endorsement or have a Class 1 driver’s licence.
I am leaving the province for the winter months (snowbird), do I need to change my registration?
Our registrations are valid in Saskatchewan, if you are leaving the province you need to let us know so we can change your vehicle registration. You must also check with the province or state you are visiting as they may have different requirements.
